There has been some valuable items found recently by people in fields with metal detectors - solid gold rings and necklaces worth tens of thousands of pounds.

There are many uses for metal detectors - one which was close to the heart of our much loved Princess Diana - Land Mines locating. Land mines can kill or seriously mame people and their detection is vital to stop the slaughter of innocents.

Another use for metal detectors is Weapons Detection - finding hidden guns and weapons on people - we are living in a time of increasing knife crime which is very frightening - if metal detectors are used in say nightclubs at the entry point - anyone carrying a knife or gun would be stopped from entering and the Police called.

There are of course lots of fun ways to use metal detectors - beach combing for instance - you never know whats hiding under the sand, or relic hunting - as I have already said - there can be some seriously valuable stuff lying around under the ground.
